The Department of History of the Turkish Revolution examines the transformation process leading to the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, starting from the late Ottoman period through the War of Independence and the political, social, and cultural reforms that followed the proclamation of the Republic. Within this field, students study the historical background of Atatürk’s principles and reforms, as well as Türkiye’s modernization process through academic and analytical perspectives.
The main aim of the department is not only to provide chronological historical knowledge but also to cultivate individuals who can analyze historical events through cause-and-effect relationships, think critically, and properly evaluate the achievements of the Republic. Courses offered in this field both shed light on Türkiye’s recent history and contribute to strengthening students’ historical awareness and sense of social responsibility.
